Warning/locating tapes for marking gas networks contain steel inserts, which allow for easy and precise localization – similarly as in the case of tapes for telecommunications networks. The vivid, yellow color of the tape ensures that, when pulled out of the ground by an excavator, the tape will get noticed and there will be no damage to the gas line.

For safety reasons, the entire length of the tape is perforated, which prevents any accumulation of liquids or gases. Both, the tapes for marking gas networks, and for marking telecommunications networks, carry along their entire length printed messages, for quick identification of the type of the network. In accordance with the ST-IGG 1001: 2015 - ST-IGG 1004: 2015 standards, the labeling system makes provisions for the use of the following kinds of tape:

• Warning tape with no locating element,
• Locating tape with steel insert,
• Locating tape with DY wire,
• Marking tape for controlled area
